PROFILE AND EXPERIENCE

Beatriz Sempere, born in Alicante, Spain in 1975, pursued her training as an industrial designer in Valencia in ’98. She actively engages in competitions, earning several awards and certificates of recognition. Additionally, she undertakes the Footwear Patternmaker course at the Centro de Educación Tecnológica while simultaneously contributing design work for renowned companies. Her true passion lies in the home environment and exploring its livability. As a result, she dedicates herself meticulously to discovering forms that enhance the architecture of contemporary and future interior spaces.

In 2000, Beatriz relocated to Italy, where she persisted in designing furniture components in partnership with various architectural firms. Her approach blends Spanish tradition with an affinity for sophisticated and harmonious design, incorporating linear and geometric elements. Her designs embody a clean, distinctly Italian aesthetic, characterized by a romantic yet modern and rational sensibility.

Currently, Beatriz collaborates with renowned individuals and design enthusiasts, as well as numerous international companies, frequently contributing to the artistic direction of their products.

Style

For Beatriz, design is a form of expression, visual communication, and aesthetic language focused on crafting spaces where the central figure is humanity.

Her ultimate aim is to evoke excitement, achieved by frequently crafting objects that appear distinct yet are connected by their essence and unified through meticulous and functional technology. She caters to a diverse audience while consistently upholding design simplicity and clarity. Ultimately, it is her personal and romantic demeanor that infuses soul into her creations, reflecting the moments of her everyday life.

Functionality and ergonomics are indispensable in each of my projects. Its combination will always allow an object to gain public appreciation over time.”

“Only when it comes of the Soul does it work… I consider that design is an Art.” Art is the Soul of the object with a strong personality. An object is Loved, cared for in the smallest detail.”

…This makes Beatriz a discerning connoisseur of taste. While she admires the frivolity and nonconformity of 1970s design, she directs her focus towards modern individuals, understanding their sobriety, needs, and contradictions. She fosters a harmonious relationship between humans and objects…

After spending several years collaborating with studios on one-off or limited-edition furniture and objects, Beatriz found her greatest satisfaction in her first industrialized furniture product, which has now grown into a collection of 13 pieces. The “Apelle” collection recently earned second prize, the “Edward Haimsohn Design Award,” for its excellence in Italian craftsmanship, originality, and quality, awarded in San Diego, California.

However, it was her FRISÈ armchair that first gained international recognition beyond Europe’s borders.

Another significant contribution is the “Guapa” collection, developed under the studio “sempere#poli Design,” along with other expressive pieces like Loopy, MOU, Santiago, Clip, EMME, OH!, PlisPlas… Not to forget one of her latest projects, FOREST, which draws inspiration from nature, her surroundings, and moments captured in photographs and walks—believing that true design stems from inner peace.

80% of Beatriz’s designs originate from her hands, thoughts, and models before involving technicians. She dedicates a significant amount of time in the company workshop, meticulously overseeing every detail to ensure maximum ergonomics and quality.

Beatriz excels at seamlessly integrating her designs into vintage, minimalist, and luxury settings, maintaining the same shape and integrity across various environments.

“There is always a reason why a product is born, and it is definitely not inspired by copying another or simply because you follow a fashion”

“The feeling we can manage to express it with the line–a line that will be called SOUL afterwards. If this one doesn’t give a feeling to others I think it’s because it didn’t come from the heart, from an emotion, and if the taste accompanies it… it will surely remain over time.”

Beatriz first showcased her work publicly at the 2010 Salone del Mobile, where her EMME table received an honorable mention. In 2017, her ZigZag design was chosen as one of the top projects for the “20 YEARS SALONE SATELLITE/Planets and Stars of New Creativity,” interpreted by her as the “Life Line.”
